Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American performer, actress and songwriter for several years. In her early years she was subjected to racial taunts by American citizens of all races. After she participated in school contests and received the highest praise for her singing, in ninth grade she began to gain confidence. This not only increased confidence in herself, but it also changed the direction she wanted to go in her career. In 1992, she received her degree from New York's Julliard School. In 1993, she made her Broadway debut with Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was called You've Got Mail. The role of The lad from The Lake was her biggest success, and earned an award for her performance, the Tony Award in addition to critical acclaim for her role. In 2007, she was cast in the ABC series Grey's Anatomy and became more popular. An accomplished singer and producer, she's produced one single and an extensive work. She also works as a LGBT activist.
